So true. I work with a lot of individuals who are great at what they do but aren't that educated (though I'm working on that) when it comes to computer use and they are easily fooled by these pop-up messages. They look very legitimate so it's easy to be fooled.

My husband is a computer consultant and we are seeing this problem more and more. It really angers me when innocent people including the elderly are duped like this. They click on those dire warnings into doing what they think is the right thing to protect their computer and wind up getting huge charges on their credit card or tons of malware dumped onto their computer.
